EPMEDIC is a privately-owned business that provides information and consulting services on emergency preparedness matters and is devoted to emergency preparedness and the medical response to incidents involving nuclear, radiological, biological, and chemical hazards.

Our Mission: here to help you help others - If you were faced with an emergency situation, is your organization prepared enough to respond efficiently and effectively? An emergency response plan alone is not a program. If the plan is not promoted and rehearsed, chances are, it will be ineffective. EPMEDIC is here to help you help others by providing you with the information and resources to establish an effective emergency response program.

Our Website: Our website provides valuable information for the emergency management community as well as organizations and individuals involved in the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program, Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, Domestic Preparedness Program, and the military medical community. EPMEDIC welcomes comments and suggestions on the website.

Our History: EPMEDIC was founded in 2000, by William McCormick, who serves as consultant, information manager, and website developer. Much of his experience and knowledge in emergency preparedness was gained while serving as a medical specialist in the US Army. During his service he was able to focus his work on the care and management of casualties sustained on the nuclear, biological and chemical battlefield. Some of his accomplishments are:

1998 – 2000
Trained over 2,000 US Army, Navy, Air Force and allied force health care professionals annually in emergency medical and field operation skills. Conducted needs assessment and develops lesson plans, practical application exercises, and scenario-based training focused on survival, medical operations, and patient care in a nuclear, biological and chemical environment. Provided instruction and technical expertise for health service support in a nuclear, biological and chemical environment to students of the Combat Casualty Care and Combat Casualty Management Courses and to external units requesting training. Presented an assessment of medical training in a nuclear, biological and chemical environment to the Government Accounting Office Review of Effect of Emerging Threats and Countermeasures on DOD's Medical Requirements and Medical Personnel Mix. Selected as Outstanding Instructor of the Combat Casualty Care Course, Class 09.

Training and Readiness Officer
Aeromedical Isolation Team, Team Leader
US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Fort Detrick, MD
1997 –1998
Responsible for the readiness and training of the Aeromedical Isolation Team, a unique rapid response team which transports and isolates dangerously infectious patients from around the world. Developed personnel and equipment decontamination procedures for the Aeromedical Isolation Team. Organized and led a training mission to Europe with the NATO Aerospace Advisory Group for Aerospace Medical Research. Commended by the Congressional Committee on International Relations for presentation on the evacuation of casualties with highly infectious disease.

Our Capabilities: EPMEDIC provides clients with information and consultant services focused on emergency preparedness. Our primary services are:

Analysis and Consulting - EPMEDIC will help clients evaluate current emergency response plans and training. Using vulnerability assessments and personnel and asset utilization information, we will identify areas of concern and ways to improve response and training efficiency.

Program Development - EPMEDIC will develop an emergency preparedness program tailored for your organization. This may include developing the emergency response plan, training objectives, courses, and exercises.

Information Research - EPMEDIC will research requested information and provide clients with a detailed report. Information relevant to emergency preparedness may include: protocols, procedures, equipment, policy/legislation, or other related topics.

Guest Speaker / Lecturer - William McCormick is also available as a guest speaker / lecturer for conferences or courses concerning emergency preparedness. He is experienced in providing expert instruction and information to senior officials and medical professionals, in both large and small group settings.

Our Clients: Our intended clients cover a wide range of government and commercial organizations. The information and consultant services that we provide are of benefit to healthcare facilities, state and local governments, the military medical community, and educational institutions.

Emergency
By definition an emergency is a sudden, urgent, usually unforeseen occurrence or occasion requiring immediate action. Arguably, the most devastating emergency is the potential for the loss of life, such as what may occur from natural or man-made disasters.

Preparedness
The best way to overcome any emergency is to be prepared; to be ready - prompt or quick in action, performance, manifestation, etc.

Medical
The most important link in emergency management should be the medical system. It is the efficient and effective management of patients that will allow us to overcome emergencies.

Information
This is what
EPMEDIC is all about. Providing you with the information you need to be prepared for any emergency...here to help you - help others.

Center
The source of an influence, action, force, etc. This is the goal of
