Prayer for the Animals
God our Heavenly Father, You created the world to serve humanity's needs and to lead them to You. By our own fault we have lost the beautiful relationship which we once had with all of your creation. Help us to see that by restoring our relationship with You we will also restore it with all Your creation. Give us the grace to see all animals as gifts from You and to treat them with respect for they are Your creation. We pray for all animals who are suffering as a result of our neglect. May the order You originally established be once again restored to the whole world...

I am always delighted to have an opportunity to work with animals! They can be so much more open and receptive to healing energy on a more consistent basis than we humans are. Reiki energy can be very calming to many animals - especially ones that may be more "naturally nervous" or easily frightened. Lessening anxiety and increasing calm and relaxation may also help them to heal more quickly after a medical procedure as well.

TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for too long, and don't lock me up for punishment. You have your work, your friends and your entertainment. I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy and uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. You too, will get old.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it" or "Let it happen in my absence". Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, I love you.
