Here I am singing that song again
The one that you listen to right through the end
If it seems to start slowly or feels kind of long
Keep in mind that the end is what's best in this song

Well, I guess it's a song, 'cause it all seems to rhyme
Like an old fashioned waltz done in three quarter time
And I know it won't go to the top of the chart
But that's not what I planned for it right from the start

CHORUS
And here I am singing that song again
The one that you sit down and listen to right through the end

The words aren't that special. They're simple and plain
They're not clever or funny, not much to explain
The melody's hardly like singing at all
I said it was simple, as you may recall

The title's not catchy, there's really no hook
When I wrote it I guess I didn't go by the book
And I've sung other songs that you liked a lot more
And I'll sing them again, like I've sung them before

CHORUS

Some people wonder what it's all about
They think that there's some hidden meaning, no doubt
So they look for an answer in something I've said
But you and I both know that they've all been misled

'Cause there's nothing to check for and nothing to hide
They got what they paid for, it's all cut and dried
So it's not my fault that they're miscomprehending
Since all that I mean can be found in the ending

CHORUS

The song's nearly over. You've been real good
At sticking around like I knew that you would
So hold on, 'cause I'll end it like I always do
Are you ready? Here it comes now...I love you.
