Welcome to the GBW History page.  This is where you will find all the information you ever wanted to know about the Green Bay & Western Railroad.  If you have anything you think should be added or something that you think is incorrect, feel free to email me with that information.

The information you will find here is gathered from many sources, not the least of which is the book 'Green Bay & Western' by Stan Mailer.  This book is still available at many hobby shops and book sellers online.

-
From it's humble beginnings as the Green Bay & Lake Peppin Railway in 1866 to its becoming the Green Bay & Western Railroad company in 1896.

-
Starting with a second-hand 4-4-0 to the mighty Mikados.

-
It's a time of change. The first diesels have arrived and the end is nearing for the mighty steam locomotives.

-
ALCO diesels rule the roost.  From the HH600 to the C-430 and everything in between.

-
From the sale to Itel to the final acquisition and dismantling by the Wisconsin Central.
