A Simple Turks Head And Sennet Key Fob
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1: This is
the 4 bight X 5 lead turks head tied on a dowel. It is 2 passes
of red, 1 of yellow. I didn't tuck the lines from the right side of the knot under the 2nd pass of the red line yet, you will see what I mean later on. 2: I slid the knot off of the dowel and tucked the lines under the red line (next to the yellow line sticking up on the right side) and feed them thru the knot. The lines from the left side don't need to be tucked under any lines, just fed thru the center of the knot. 3: I've feed all 4 lines thru the bead (I used a barrel shaped bead, a ball works good too). 4: A better view of the bead. 5: A top view of the lines going thru the center of the knot and bead. Tighten the knot around the bead and make sure its even. 6: This is what it should look like from the other end of the knot after you have finished tightening it down. All 4 lines exit out the center of the knot. 7: Side view of it tightened down. 8: This is the starting point for the 4 strand sennet. 9: Fig 8 tightened down. 10: The next level of the sennet (if you keep tying it in the same direction it will give the sennet a "twisted" look, if you go to the right on one level and to the left on the next, it will give it a "straight" look). 11: A side view, see how it "twists". 12: This is the knot for the thimble. Its just an overhand knot with extra turns. 13: The thimble installed and the overhand knot tightened down. 14: Do a few more of the sennet levels to secure the thimble in place. 15: Trim off the excess line and burn the ends to lock them in place. Tie another turks head over the joint of the sennet and thimble and you are finished!! | ||||||||
