Racing will be run with these few rules, so please take a
moment to read the following:
Rubber tired cars… and general
rules of conduct. Most races will involve rubber-tired cars. Other series will
have side rules below.
- Cars will be used for the opening series. You use your own
car. Cars must be run with rubber tires…no foams. Cars must be equipped
with a windshield, dash, steering wheel and no metal chassis’ will be
allowed. Tires should not extend beyond the outer most part of the wheel
well. This prevents cars running up on tires and coming out of their
track. As an F1 driver I know this too well.
- No oil is to be used on the track, any work done to vehicles
must be done in the pits. Any lubricating, taping etc must be done before
racing starts. This is to keep the racing flowing smoothly and to cut down
on the mess.
- We will be racing on both wood tracks. We will be running 3
races per lane, and each driver will race in every lane on both tracks.
Races will be 10 lap races with no corner marshals. If you started on lane
1 of the old track as your first race, you would race 3 times, then you
would move to lane 2 for 3 races and so on until you have raced in every
lane. To keep the races moving, we will all take our turn at scoring the
races. The caller (or scorekeeper) for each race will be the person next
in line to be racing. The caller starts the race, calls out the laps,
keeps score and checks lap times at the end of the race for best lap and
makes judgement on inside lane rule (see below). People watching the race
can assist in this one too.
- During a race, if a car comes off the track, stop the race.
That car is removed from the track and is out for the rest of that race.
They will be in the next run so wait at your spots. The race is then
restarted with the remaining cars. First person out will get one point.
Second out gets 2 points. Third gets 3 points and last car on will get 4
points, (or in order of finishing position if race goes the full 10 laps.
- If 2 cars are in a collision causing both cars to go out, we
will use “The Inside Lane Rule”. If you are on the inside line and you
knock a car out, you will be considered out. This is reasonable; in real
life an out of control car slides out on a corner if going too fast, which
causes the accident.
- All points for the evening racing are totalled up at the end
and most points earned will be First place and so on. Prizes will be
awarded to the top 3 places and there will also be a prize for fastest lap
on each track.
- All races will be run using the car you signed up to use for
both tracks and all lanes, no swapping cars mid race or between lane
changes etc. This is to benefit those that don’t have multiple cars to
choose from.
- When we race Go Karts, it will be Go Karts only. When we race
F1, it will be F1’s only. Same goes for Rally cars and any other classes
that might be in the schedule/calendar.
- As for Classic Cars, well these have to be run stock. Stock
tires, motors etc. The only mod here is if you add weight.
10. For modified class we will be running foam tires, metal
chassis and just about anything
goes. If a special event is planned it will be posted on the calendar or a
write up on the home page.
Any questions or comments can be
sent to apolloslotracing@netscape.net
I hope that this will save some confusion and ensure a
flowing race. If we get good at flow, we might be able to race more than one
class a night. And as far as when it is your turn to be race caller, please try
to get with the person scoring the race before you, a little early, so you can
see how it is done, it is really easy. Other than that… Start your engines !!!!
