  • Harry is the son of John Chalfant New. PM Centre Lodge #23, Indianapolis; John C. was a founder of the Indianpolis Valley AASR; Once a Indiana State Senator and Chairman of Indiana Republican Committee.
  • Harry was born in Indianapolis, Ind., December 31, 1858.

  • Indianapolis Journal Newspaper:  Reporter then  Editor then Publisher.
  • Delegate to Republican National Convention from Indiana, 1896, 1912, 1920, 1924;
  • Member of Indiana state senate, 1897-1899;
  • Served as Captain in U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War;
  • Member of Republican National Committee, 1900-1912;
  • Chairman of Republican National Committee, 1907-1908;
  • U.S. Senator from Indiana, 1917-1923;

  • Died in Baltimore, Md., May 9, 1937.
