"Brother Love, still remembered (written 1924) by a few old-time members of the Rite, was born in Culpepper County, Virginia, January 9, 1820.  He was one of the charter members of Ancient Landmarks Lodge No. 319, F. And A. M., and was the first Worshipful Master under the dispensation in 1864.  The Lodge was chartered the following year and he continued as Master in 1865 and 1866.  He received the Fourteenth Degree of the Scottish Rite, April 16, 1864 and the Sixteenth and Seventeenth, April 25; the Eighteenth and Nineteenth March 7, 1865, and the Thirty-second on March 8.  As mentioned elsewhere, Ancient Landmarks Lodge at the beginning was made up exclusively of Scottish Rite Members and continued so for a number of years.  At the first regular election of Indianapolis Chapter of Rose Croix, May 10, 1865 following its organization in March, previously, Brother Love was elected Most Wise Master and served two years.  Previously he had been elected Senior Grand Warden of Adoniram Lodge and a few days later, Illustrious Minister of State of Indiana Consistory.

"Brother Love, besides his Masonic Zeal was a devout churchman, and at the time of his death was a warden in Christ Episcopal Church, where a tablet now stands in his memory.  He also was president of the Masonic Mutual Benefit Society of Indiana, which was one of the early associations of its kind."  End of Quote, page 361:
