From the AuthorHi, and welcome to the Silver Boat Site. I am so happy you have come to visit.
Over 10 years ago I wrote this story for use in a therapy session with one of the people with whom I was working. Since this metaphor seemed to work so well, I decided to have the story published so that others might be helped by it too. Through a series of near-miracles, I met an artist who wanted to illustrate the story, met a publisher who wanted to publish the story, and now I am meeting you. Several years later I wrote the second book, found another wonderful artist, and have you visiting my site. I'm thrilled! The "Little Prince" (if you haven'tread this book, you are missing something special) once said that if you really want to get to know a person you should ask things like, what their favorite color is, what they like to play, etc., and not necessarily what they do for a living. So I'll fill you in on these real "matters of consequence" first. I live in a small Irish Cottage which overlooks beautiful Beaver lake & the Ozark Mountains. I am also very much at home while traveling, riding my bike, and playing in or on the water. My favorite color is blue. I love to body board in the ocean, snorkle among technicolored fish in coral reefs, and swim with wild dolphins. On Beaver Lake one of my favorite things is to lazily ride around with my friends and dogs on a silver pontoon boat while enjoying the company, scenery, and at times, eagles and sunsets. As with most authors, I bring to my stories an integration of many aspects of my own personality, education, and life experiences, including those of my work. I am a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. The concepts of angels, personal helpers, and visits from light-surrounded beings are familiar concepts which permeated my Catholic upbringing. In addition to my formal education, the Jungian & Buddhist concepts of the collective unconscious, archetypes, and the essential connectedness of existence helped me greatly in my work with people who had trauma, dissociative experiences, and conflicts with "individual versus separateness" issues. Most importantly, these concepts "materialized" for me through my experiences in therapy with persons who so vividly demonstrated the ideas that I had pondered for so many years. The deeply emotional experiences involved in working with persons who have suffered childhood abuse has been my greatest teacher in my life. As a child I spent many dreamy hours riding through lagoons in Audobon park on a "swan boat". The Lady In Blue Light was inspired by an actual internal helper, "The Teacher", of a person with whom I was working. And by the way, I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist, who works with Children, adolescents, and adults. I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas. What were your fantasies about the "Warm and Sunny Land"?
