Each firework is hand loaded into a High-Density PVC tube which will not shatter into pieces if a firework explodes inside. The largest tubes here are 6 inches. Tubes are framed in groups of 4, 5 or 6. Frames are secured to each other in a manner that will not allow the tubes to tip over. It is the responsiblilty of a certified Fire Safety Instructor to be present during the setup to ensure stability of the tubes. The Fire Safety Inspector also has to be present during the shooting of the show and during the take-down of the display. The fireworks can either be fired by hand with a roadside flare, or can be electronically detonated. This show is entirely electronically fired. To fire a shell by hand, the shooter has to approach each tube and touch the flare to the paper match hanging outside each tube. Firing electronically is much safer and conducted from a greater distance, but takes much longer to setup and is more expensive. The orange wires used to fire each shell can be seen on the sides of the mortar racks shown in the right picture above.
