Century Home Blaze
Century House Blaze
330 South Rocky River Drive
August 8, 1991
This Century home was under extensive renovation in 1991 when a painter's torch ignited this blaze in the top floor.  A delayed call to the Fire Department while they attempted to put out the fire with a garden hose resulted in a major loss to the structure.  Mutual aid was received by the Middleburg Hts. Fire Department.  The house was later fully renovated and stands majestically today on South Rocky River Dr.
Small water mains in the area of this blaze resulted in a poor water supply to fight this fire.  New, larger water mains have since been installed and the entire area is better protected.  With the fire rapidly gaining headway due to the house being renovated and propane tanks in the attic, fire crews do their best awaiting the arrival of the Middleburg Heights Fire Department's aerial tower.  The house was not occupied at the time of the fire.
The arrival of neighboring Middleburg Heights Fire Department's aerial tower helps brings an end to this fire. Damage is extensive, however, the house is eventually fully resorted.
The Century Home as it stands today after the fire - fully restored and beautiful!
