Week of October 14th
Previous week was uneventful however Monday the 14th I awoke not feeling well. Flu like symptoms... just thought it was a bad "Magnesium Day". Little did I know that this was a precurser to a bad week ahead. Tuesday... after an examination, the Drs. realized I was then at 2cm dilated. I started contracting much heavier and was now bleeding regularly. Throughout the day Wednesday the medication was enhanced and I was put on a much more aggressive dose of magnesium sulfate. I was then moved down to the labor and delivery floor which put me closer to the OR in case anything should happen. After an examination on Thursday it was determined I was now 4 cm dilated and my medications where again enhanced to even stronger levels. At this point I can honestly say these few days were a blur. Carl was feeding me ice chips at bed side as I could not even lift my head to drink because I was totally under the influence of the medication and it's side effects. Drs. were preparing us for the impending possibilities of me delivering in the next few days and all the implications that delivering four babies at 23 weeks brings with it. We started accepting offers from family to come and help with Cameron. I turned the corner on Friday however and contractions finally were being brought under control and the bleeding started to subside. I continued on to have a stable weekend. We were grateful to have my sister from California fly in on that Friday and stay through Tuesday.
