Week of October 21st
Tuesday was a BIG milestone as it marked the beginning of gestational week 24.
The survival rate for newborns at this stage is much more promising than delivering earlier. We celebrated the day with balloons and relief. We also had a long ultrasound where they measured the babies growth and heart rate. The babies are doing great, all over 700 grams which is more than a pound and a half each. The manipulation of my stomach for the procedure however did cause me to start bleeding once again. Throughout the night I continued to loose blood and contract. I was given a blood transfusion at 2am on Wednesday morning in hopes that this would help with the loss of blood that was happening. The difficult night behind us brought good news at 6am Wednesday morning when they measured me and said I was still 4cm. dilated. I had not changed in seven days, what a relief !
Wednesday also brought my sister Sheila from NY!!! Yippee!! and the beginning of a week full of no bleeding and no heavy contractions. We are grateful for family to help with Cameron and Carl has continued to be at my bedside to help with all of the daily routine and the communication with the Doctors, residents and nurses regarding my care.
I am now no longer able to get out of bed at all and just the day to day events in a normal persons life must now occur in my bed horizontally. We are looking forward to coasting into week 25 and beyond! We are taking every day as a gift. I am grateful for everyones prayers, thoughts and well wishes. We feel this is a major contribution!!!!!!
