AN EVENING OF
MINDFULNESS
AT THE WORLDBEAT CULTURAL CENTER

With Zen Buddhist monks and nuns from Deer Park Monastery, in the Tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
Monday Dec 8th, 2003, 7pm to 8:30pm
The Monks and Nuns will begin with an introduction to mindful breathing and a short guided meditation to calm and heal our bodies and minds. We
will share about the practice of mindfulness, how to cultivate peace and happiness in our daily lives by dwelling in the present
moment. Everyone is then invited to enjoy some vegetarian food together as we continue with questions and answers and informal discussion about bringing mindfulness, compassion and understanding into our everyday lives. We look forward to being with you!
Thich Nhat Hanh is a poet, peace activist and a monk. During the Vietnam War he
founded the School of Youth for Social Service and the movement of Engaged
Buddhism, practicing to bring about peace non-violently without taking sides in the
war. He was nominated for the Noble Peace Prize by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Monks and Nuns will be on 91X Reggae Makossa for an interview with Makeda Dread this Sunday night, the 7th at 8:30 pm.
