A Curvilinear Cat

From the top of its head to the tip of its tail, the Cornish Rex is a series of curves. The profile of its head is comprised of two convex arcs. The forehead is rounded, the nose break is smooth and mild, and the Roman nose has a high, prominent bridge. The head is comparatively small and narrow with gently curved outlines. The ears are large and set high on the head.

The body of the Cornish Rex is small to medium in size, with a long, slender torso. The cat has fine boning. Its back is naturally arched, with the lower line of the body approaching the upward curve, forming a "tuck up". The arch is evident when the cat is standing. The tail is long, slender, and flexible.

Despite its delicate appearance, the Cornish Rex is a sturdy cat. Pick one up and you will find it is heavier than you expected, because the body is firm and muscular. Because of its tuck-up, powerful hind legs, and racy-looking body, the Cornish Rex has been compared to the greyhound. Adults are very quick and are good jumpers.

You will also notice that the Cornish Rex feels warm to the touch. This is due not only to the shortness of the coat but also to the cat's high body temperature. Its average temperature is about one degree higher than that of other breeds.
