Received from Virginia Johnston Ratliff on April 28, 2006: Varner Houston Johnston's (my grandfather and your's Grant) sister Effie married James Virgil Radford. This is their son, who was daddy's 1st cousin. Frances Othelle was married to Ray Gibbs. She was twin sister to William Odell. I remember spending nights with Flapper (Frances Othelle) when we lived in Shreveport. They lived on Clanton Street and we lived at 122 Lash st. Ray Gibbs worked shift work and she (Flapper) was scared to stay alone. They had three girls, Sherry, Cathy and Lisa. All younger than you and I. Hope this helps to clear the connection. Donald, thanks for the information. Virginia

An addendum from Virginia:Yes Donald there was another Johnston connection that I failed to remember and to mention. Allie Radford, sister of James Virgil Radford and daughter of John Thomas Radford married Luther Franklin Johnston, son of William Thomas Johnston (Richard Johnston's Grandfather). So, you can see we are very much related to the Radford Family. Virginia

NOTE THIS OBITUARY WHICH WE MISSED IN MARCH
- Thanks to Virginia for sending this.

The information below is from the Shreveport Times Monday March 27, 2006. Thomas James Moss was a son of James Artis Moss and Annie Victoria Johnston Moss (daughter of William Thomas and Frances Melvina Johnston). You (Richard) probably know more about this than I do. Virginia
