Love Your Enemy

Dirk Willems was an Anabaptist living in Holland in 1569. The Anabaptists were a persecuted religious minority under the Spanish rulers, who were still trying to enforce a Roman Catholic monopoly in the country. Willems was thrown into prison to await trial as a heretic. The prison diet was inadequate, and Willems lost a considerable amount of weight. Knowing his life was at stake, he made a rope out of knotted rags and lowered himself out of an upper window. Then he ran!

A prison guard saw Willems and pursued. Willems was able to cross over a frozen pond safely, his lightweight, emaciated body did not break through the thin ice. But his pursuer, much heavier, broke through the ice. He tried to get out on his own but was unsuccessful.

Willems heard the man's cries. But Willems knew that if he tried to help the pursuer, he most likely would be caught again. He could not let the man drown. So he returned and helped the man to safety. Then the guard promptly hauled Willems back to prison. Shortly thereafter he was burned ast the stake for his "heresy" of being an Anabaptist.

Willems exemplified exactly what Jesus was talking about. Willems loved his enemy to the extent that it cost him his own life. Jesus' words are easily acknowleged, but rarely implemented. Dirk Willems is a marvelous exception.

July Prayer Requests for our team

"Time is one of the most precious ingredients. Every day brings 86,400 seconds,...whatever isn't used is lost forever."
Give a child a watch--what does he do? He looks at it constantly & tells whoever is around the time, or ask whoever is around if the time is correct, or looks on the watch of whoever is around to make sure his time is the same.!! True? of course it is true!!! The time for Jesus to return is getting close. How do we know? Just look around at the "Times". Pretty scary when you think about it seriously. Because we live near a "time bomb" in Zimbabwe we are seeing close & personal how "Times change" quickly. As you each pray for The Eastern Harvest Team this month--pray that we sense the importance to share the Gospel with everyone we are around. Why? Because times are changing & we don't know when Satan's schemes of destroy & kill will attack us here in Zambia. Ask God to grant us a deep desire to hear HIS voice & follow Him while Zambia is a harvest field.

KENDALL, JOY, LILY, EASTON, & LAUREN HELGREN

For our time of prayer--- we have moved to our final destination- NYIMBA. pray that we use our time wisely as we transition to our new home. May we not get wrapped up in ourselves that we miss opportunties to share Jesus with our new neighbors. Pray for Joy's Mom who is visiting this month from Texas. Pray that this time together will be fun, relaxing & full of fond memories. Praise God that we passed our language exams, but knowing that language learning will always be on our time table.!!

KEVIN, SUZIE, ZACHARY, JUSTIN & HANNAH RODGERS

A Volunteer team is here from June 25th-July 4th. Pray for them as they go out to the area where we had the feeding project along the Lunsemfwa River, to plant two churches. This will be a difficult trip for the team-pray for good health and good attitudes. Also, pray for the people in this area. On a recent trip there, Kevin found that the mealie meal was finished that we provided and their new crops won't be in until probably late July so again they are in hunger. Starting July 7th pray for Zach as his takes his end of year exams that he will remember everything he has studied over the year. July 11th-Zach comes home for his end of year break. Yeah!! School is finished for Hannah and Justin. Pray they will enjoy their break and we could have some good family time. On Thursdays, Suzie is teaching at Silver Rest Baptist church and Chainda II Baptist Church. Pray she will clearly communicate her lessons so that the women will understand. Pray these women will catch a vision to share with others in their villages. Pray for Kevin as he teaches TEE at Itopi Baptist church. These people are very excited about learning more of God's Word.

JOHN MCPHERSON

Time will tell when John will begin using some of the training he is getting in South Africa. Pray that God will place those "Certain" people & places where he can share this training & knowledge. Pray for traveling mercies for John as he returns the first week in July from SA. Pray as he begins his seminary classes again.

DWAYNE & BETTY MITCHELL

Driving long distances is part of the job--but when Zambia is as big as Texas & Oklahoma THAT IS BIG> We are praising God for sending labours to our "family", but there are the logistics of finding homes, good water, etc.... so these labours will be able to survive. Pray for us as we travel to some remote areas. Pray that finding housing will be done in a "timely" manner. Pray for our children in the States: Michelle, Matthew, & Michael. May they find time to share Jesus with those they are around & walk with Him.

MICHAEL & LINDY HOWARD

Spending time with our missionary family is wonderful--but our family are "far- out-there". Pray as we drive/fly to some of these places. May we encourage & praise God together as we visit the ministry areas of your missionaries.

SPECIAL PRAYERS:

Pray for our Zimbabwe Christian Brothers & Sisters. This is a difficult time for the whole country. Pray that God will manifest Himself in a Unique & Special way. Please pray for the President of Zambia who suffered a mild heart attack while in Egypt. May we each use our time wisely & have wisdom, courage, & discernment to share with everyone we are around. Thank you for your prayers & words of encouragement Eastern Harvest Team
