ORTHADOXED TAOIST DEITIES
San Ch’ing Tao-tsu (The Three Pure Ones): Sacred Trinity (Yuan-shih T’ien-tsun, Ling-pao T’ien-tsun, T’ai shang Lao-chun), the Supreme deities of the Taoist Pathenon, ruling the entire Cosmos from the Highest Heavens.
Yuan-shi T’ien-tsun (The Heavenly Elder of the Primeval Origins), He is the supreme ultimate created from Yin and Yang, the first principle with no beginning and no end. He is in charge of the Heaven of the Heavenly ones (highest Heaven). Credited with creating the Heavens and Earth. He is the spirit of breath of life.
Ling-pao T’ien-tsun (The Heavenly Elder of the Spiritual Treasure), His reincarnation was one of the first patriarch’s of Taoism, the Chieh Chiao Pai (Intercepting sect). He is in charge of the Heaven of the Perfected Ones (Second Highest Heaven). Credited with devising the rules for controlling the interaction between Yin and Yang, as well as the doctrine for the Heavens and Earth.
T’ai-shang Lao-chun (Great Supreme Venerable Lord), His most famouse reincarnation was Lao-Tzu. He is in charge of the Heaven of the Immortals (Third Highest Heaven). He is the source of vital essence, ruler of the Yin principle.
Hung-chun Lao-tsu: The personification of the vital principle in nature before the creation o the World. He is the great ancestor, Master of the Patriarchs, the Teacher of Venerable Lord “Lao-Tzu”, as well as most of the earliest Immortals and Taoist teachers. He is often placed with the San-Ching on altars in Taoist Temples.

Yu Huang Shang-ti (Jade Emperor), also known as the Lord of Heaven (T’ien Kung or T’ien Wang): Supreme ruler of the Heavens, of the Underworld and Protector of Humanity.

Hsuan-t’ien Shang-ti (The Supreme Lord of the Dark heavens): Jade Emperors most powerful minister and reincarnate, he is known as the God of Martiality or True Warrior (Chen-wu). He is known by clearing Heaven and Earth of all Demons. Worshipped by devotees as the Emperor of the Northern Heavens, True God of Martiality, God of Wu-Tang shan, True Demon exorcising God, and God of true Wealth.
Chiu T’ien Hsuan-nu (The Dark Mysterious Lady Ninth Heaven): Very important and POWERFUL Deity. She is known from stopping a flood by patching the Heavens, and the construction of the world. She was the only disciple of Hsi Wang-mu and in return the teacher of the Yellow Emperor (Huang Ti).
The Celestial Ministry of Health, known as the Three Emperors:
Fu Hsi, First of the three Emperors: Founder of China and Kingly Rule, Created the Pau-Kua, Credited with the establishment of marriage laws, and the computation of time. Taught people to hunt and fish, and created the fishing net.
Shen Nung, Second of the Three Emperors: The God of Husbandry, the First Farmer and Founder of Natural Medicine. He succeeded Fu Hsi and passed the thrown to Huang Ti.
Huan Ti (Yellow Emperor), Third of the Three Emperors: Considered by the Han to be their direct forbearer. He was the founder of China and reigned one hundred years. He was the first Human to ascend to transcendency, who taught the way to immortality, thus creating ancient Taoism.  
San Kuan Ta-ti, San Yuan Ta-ti, or San Chieh Kung (The three Great Primordial Rulers), also known as the Controllers of Heaven, Earth, and Waters.
T’ien Kuan (Ruler of Heaven): Who is only outranked by the Jade Emperor, bestows happiness, freedom and prosperity.
Ti Kuan (The Ruler of Earth): The judge of the sins of humanity and grants remission to those who mend their ways.
Shui Kuan (The Ruler of Water): The controller of floods and dispeller of evils and pestilence.
Wu-chi T’ien-yuan: main patron of the Taoist sect Hsien-t’ien Fa P’ai. He is known as the Chaos Immortal as he, with his consort, Wu-sheng Lao-mu helped create Heaven out of primeval chaos..
Hsi Wang-mu (the Golden Mother): Queen Mother of the Western Heavens, Queen of the Immortals, keeper of the Peach Orchard, and the Controller of Time, Space, and of Death.
T’ai Sui: The President of the Celestial Ministry of Time, The Ruler of the Year and the God of the cycle of Sixty Years.

Hsuan-t’ai Yuan-shui (Marshal of the Dark Altar) General of the White Tiger: Military God of Wealth. Famous for capturing and taming a White Tiger (which brings bad luck) in which became his steed.
T’ai-I Tien-Tsun (The Celestial Worthy of the Great Unity): An early Taoist Deity that helps devotees to achieve immortality. He is often prayed to by Taoist devotees for Longevity, prosperity, and much like Kuan Yin he listens to the cries from lost souls to be saved. He is one of the Twelve original Immortals of Heaven and was the medical advisor to Huang-ti (Yellow Emperor).
T’ai-I Chui-k’u T’ien-Tsun, one of many manifestations of T’ai-I Tien-tsun, he ferries the souls of those that he has saved, over to the Great Heaven. Prayed to by Taoist’s on the seventh lunar month during the festivals of the dead. Subordinate to him are the two controllers of Life and Death, the Lords of the Northern and Southern Dippers, Nan-tou Hsing-chun and Pei-tou Hsing-chun.
Chiang Tzu-ya (Marshal Chiang Ta’I-kung) Father of the Gods: General Commanding all Celestial forces, and as such, a powerful protector of homes and shopss.
Erh Lang Shen (The Second Born): Deity of those who can help those in trouble and need; he also drives away demons and wards off their influences.
Na-Cha San T’ai-tzu or Li Na-Cha (The Third Prince) the enfant terrible: He is an exorcising spirit, famous for killing the third son of the Dragon King.

T’ai-Pai Chin-Hsing (Evening Star, Venus): Responsible for rain, Patron of wine makers (T’ai-Pai Hsien-weng), and the Wine Spirit (Chiu Shen). He was a human official with the surname Li.
Wang Ling-Kuan (The Spirit Official Wang) or Wang T’ien-Chun (General Wang): The traditional protector of Taoist Scriptures. Guardian of popular religion temples. Flanked by two other generals, Heng and Ha (The Blower and Snorter), Heroes from the Feng-shen Yen-i. Destroyer of Demons, one of the Thirty Six commanders of the Celestial Armies.
Kuang-tse Tsun-wang (The Lord of Extensive Compassion): Prayed to by Taoists and devotees for the usual blessings, protector of natural disasters, Healer of the sick, Wealth God, patron of those who bear the surname Kuo, and protector of children.
Wu Ying Chiang-chun: The Generals of the Five Directions or the Five Battalions. Commanders of Spirit armies in which protect villages.
T’ien Chang (The thirty six Heavenly Generals): Defied Heroes who fell during the Shang-Chou wars.
Yao-ch’ih Chin-mu (Golden Mother of the Green jade Lake): Bestower of long life.
T’ao-hua Hsien-nu (Peach Blossom Girl): Very important and powerful stellar Deity.

Hua Kuang Ta-ti: God of Fire and demon destroyer. He is prayed to by the community than individuals, thus being the protector of the community against their depredations.

I-chuan Chiang-chun: One of the 108 dogs who saved Peikang.
Nan-tou Hsing-chun & Pei-tou Hsing-chun (Stellar Deities of the Northern and Southern Bushels): Pei-tou is responsible for keeping a register for one’s life span and noting the due date when one is to die. Nan-tou on the other hand plans and records one’s destiny and is responsible for noting merits and demerits earning or subtraction additional months to one’s life.
