Looking at the photos, it seems to me that the doctor was tugging unnecessarly hard. Look at the wrinkled on Gavin's belly where the cord is attached. A few days later at his pediatrician's they told us he had developed a hernia at that spot.

My husband said that after all the grunting, scowling, crying, and grimacing throughout labor, he was amazed at my sudden sunny smile when they laid Gavin on my belly. His cord was too short to reach my chest, but after a few moments his Daddy cut it and we were able to cuddle him close.
