To start, we may look to the environment. See what GreenPeace (USA) is doing to help keep the earth green (we all know it's not easy). There are many other organizations which try to help keep this planet alive. Take a look at them too.

 On the political side, you may want to look into the Green Parties of the USA. The 10 key values of the US Green Party sums up their philosophy, which I agree with. But politics in this country can never make the difference that is needed to fix the wrongs we have done. We need more of a 'spiritual infusion' upon this culture to begin to reconnect with Mother Earth.

Are you concerned about over-population? There is much talk about the "holding capacity" of the earth. Obviously, we can't continue to double our population every few decades, but for some reason, we keep trying. We are the only species which can alter its environment to the point where we can artificially inflate our numbers beyond any natural limit. Check out what concerned scientists have to say.
