In Bloom

An angel sat 'round heavens garden thinking up a plan,
she'd plant a rose of such great beauty and give it to a man.
The rose would bloom with pristine beauty, it's color a deepened red,
it's leaves so slender, it's stem built strong, with angels tears it
would be fed.

The rose grew strong but wouldn't bloom, just why she couldn't tell,
she tossed the rose down to the earth, and watched it as it fell.
It landed in a mans front yard, and he placed it in a vase,
he had no love to give it to, but he'd keep it just in case.

So long he'd searched to have someone who understood his ways,
the rose watched as he sat alone, sad nights, and lonely days.
If only just to fall in love he'd keep it in his heart,
he'd hold her close and kiss her lips, they'd never be apart.

Then the man met love one day, her eyes a pretty brown,
if only just to marry her, he'd lose that lonely frown.
He knew the way to show his love, a setting just for two,
and then he grabbed the unbloomed rose and he knew just what to do.

He told his love just how he felt, and asked "darling.....marry me?",
and when he asked he held her close, true love was plain to see.
And as they kissed such heartfelt love was felt throughout the room,
and behind them on the table.......the rose was in full bloom....
