Simple Things

I like simple things
Because they're easily understood
It's hard to misinterpret them
And mistake a bad for good

Simple things like dogs
Whose only motive is to serve
They find no fault with human beings
And give them love they don’t deserve

Simple things like birds
That suddenly appear in spring
Then flies from nest and does his best
To sing and sing and sing

I guess if we had time on earth
And lived a thousand years
We'd finally understand enough
To conquer all our fears

But our life is so limited
And loaded with snags and stings
I think I'll just enjoy it
And stick to the simple things
