The elevated section of the railroad is constructed with pressure treated wood which has been stained with a sealer. The posts are set in concrete to prevent them from shifting. One three-foot section is made to easily lift out for access to the pool. The track is fastened to the crosspieces.
The track on grade is set on a trench filled with fine stone screenings. The screenings used as ballast hold the track in place. The grade level track has shifted slightly during winter frost but not enough to cause any problems. It has always leveled back out after the ground thawed.
