dated 5 October 1863
Yesterday
morning, at an early hour, the ship Ida Zeigler, Captain A. Reynolds,
from London, 92 days out, arrived in harbour and having tacked up,
came to an anchor in the stream about half-past nine o'clock. This makes
the third visit of this favourite clipper ship to the colony. She
left Plymouth on the 3rd July, and sighted Trinadad on the 11th August.
Crossed the Equator on the 4th of August in long 21 14 W., having
met with very light winds. The meridian of the Cape of Good Hope was
passed in 42 S lat. From the Cape of Good Hope to Tasmania strong
southerly winds prevailed, with very heavy sea- the backstay chain plates
being carried away, and the misen topsail yard. Tasmania was sighted
on the 23rd September, and the Three Kings made on the morning of the
30th ultimo, arriving in harbour as above. She brings 120 passengers,
and a general cargo of merchandise.
