State of the bodywork.
The photos on this page show some of the problems I face as I start on the body. Most of the problems are situated around the front of the car, these consist of stress cracks, chipped paintwork and deep holes with a powdery substance inside. These holes turn out to be pop rivets, which suggest the car had a minor shunt at some stage of its life, this also explains a lot of the stress cracks. Apparently the way to repair a stress crack is to grind out the crack until you reach the matting, lay in a new piece of matting, a bit of resin and hardener, some filler over that and hea presto your done! The problem is I may have as many as 50 or 60 cracks to sort out, its very tempting to just spray over them and hope they don’t look too bad.
