Our Canine Friends
Meet Boss Man!  He is a Dachshund Chihuahua mix.  A little dog with a lot of spunk.  Our new neighbor has the spirit of  a Doberman with the sweetest personality.  He shares his home with Crazy Cat a beautiful light colored Maine Coon.  We welcome them to our neighborhood and to our website.
Talk about loving your furry friend.  I've been fortunate to know Ike since his loving parents brought him home as a puppy.  Mike and Sue are two of the most loving, kind neighbors you could ask for and their love for animals amazes even the most ardent animal lover.  Ike has had his share of health problems as he has grown older and Mike and Sue meet every challenge.  Here is Ike sporting his new wheelchair.  I like to think of it as Ike's motorcycle and picture him in doggy leathers.  Mike tells me he's thinking about sporting an American Flag and I can't think of a Pup who would carry it  better than Ike.  He's a Grand Ole Dog!

Meet Winn-d

Introduction by Ms. Winn-d's Mom

I  lost both my Rottie "babies" within 2 months, which was quite devastating.  My boyfriend met a man giving away Shepard?Chow (?) puppies outside the local grocery store and surprised me with this precious,  furry 6-week old bundle covered in  fleas!

After many vet visits  for mange and severe intestinal worms...and many $$'s later, we have a beautiful,  sweet, loving 1-year old "baby."  Winn-d loves boating, chasing Dad, attacking fallen tree limbs and pretends not to be interested while Mom and Dad eat.  She loves Mom, but shows a bit of  favoritism toward Dad...I'll let her.
Who wouldn't love this baby?
Meet Rambo!  A Labordor - Australian Shepard mix.  Rambo was a loving companion to my Father.  I thought about placing  his photo in Furry Angels, however, his loving spirit will always be with me.  As a pup, my call to him would be "Puppy - Puppy" and he would  jump  onto my lap, kisses and more kisses and chew on my earrings.  That was fine  as a pup -- but this boy grew to be over 60 lbs.

By the way, Dad lived in HUD housing at the time and there were rules regarding the weight of a pet.  A pet  in HUD housing couldn't be more than 20 lbs.  My family fought  that rule and won!  After numerous phone calls and letters, Mayor Hazouri of Jacksonville responded...The headline in our local newspaper read: "Rambo stays Growls the Mayor."

No longer can HUD housing evict a resident or their animal based on the weight of the animal.  My sincere thanks to the Animal Activists, Veterans and  Disabled citizens that  responded to the ad I placed  in the newspaper when this situation occured.  Without their calls to the "powers that be" some of our citizens wouldn't be able to share their lives with loving companions.  Your voice and opinion does count and  YOU can make a difference!
