| Talabani Calls for Calm After the Ladenite
Atrocities

Sulaimani Oct1-The Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani urged all public institutions
of the
Kurdistan Regional Government and the defense forces of PESHMERGA to
protect citizens’
civil rights and freedoms in the aftermath of the horrible atrocities
committed by the bin
Laden’s clique ‘ Jund Al Islam’.
He assured delegations from the Islamic Movement and Islamic League
that their right to
function within the law will always be protected as the PUK does not
wish to engage in
intra-Kurdistani struggles and that mainstream Islamic activities must
not be mixed with the
Ladenite terrorist and savage acts.
Mr. Talabani stated that is obvious that the murderous Jund Al Islam
is intent to destroy
civil society and the democratic experiment being carried out in Kurdistan
region.
Jund Al Islam has defied KRG and deliberately spilled blood of Patriotic
Union of Kurdistan
and Kurdistan Democratic Party members and that of the brave PESHMEGA
in the course
of their terrorist attacks.
A committee- consisting of PUK, Islamic Movement and Islamic League-
has been formed
in Halabja to encourage strict adherence to rule of law and public
freedoms.
