Iran Kurdish rebels kill policeman - newspaper
TEHRAN, July 31 (Reuters) - Iranian Kurdish rebels killed a policeman
in
clashes near the border with Iraq, the semi- official newspaper Iran
said on
Tuesday.
The clashes occurred when members of the communist Komala rebel
group, disguised as members of the volunteer Basij militia led by Islamic
harliners, opened fire on a police car, Iran said.
A senior official in the local governor's office said the two separatist
Kurds
who had opened fire, killing the policeman, were later arrested after
a
shootout with Revolutionary Guards.
The official news agency IRNA earlier said four policemen were injured
in
clashes with Komala rebels in mid-July.
