We are part of a statewide support group called Loving Education at Home (LEAH,) organized in 1983 by five Christian families seeking the support and fellowship of like-minded homeschooling families. It has grown into an organization that is respected for its’ accomplishments in New York and nationwide. There are now over 150 LEAH state wide chapters that provide the support vital to inform and encourage the homeschooling family. 

Our particular chapter meets once a month for a parent support/fellowship time. The specific date and location are announced in our monthly newsletter. After opening our meeting with prayer, we then take time to introduce one another before moving on to: the circulation of information regarding upcoming events, activity planning, and addressing practical homeschooling issues through sharing and fellowship together. Each month, we endeavor to provide one or two activities for the whole family. It may be a field trip, academic opportunity or a physical activity. The possibilities for good clean fun, fellowship, and enrichment are endless; but we need your help to make things work. With your help we hope to provide a good balance for both children and parents. 

Our group has a distinct Christian identity and we, therefore, require members to agree with and sign the attached statement of faith. The yearly dues are $25.00 ($12.00 of which supports the state organization and $13.00 towards our local chapter.) Our membership year runs from May to April. 

In addition, we recommend purchasing a LEAH Legal Packet to answer any legal questions. It is very important to be informed and up to date concerning legal matters relating to homeschooling. We also strongly recommend you join Home Schooling Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). Both of these are recommendations not requirements to joining the group. It is our prayer that this group will be an encouragement and a blessing to as many homeschooling families as possible.
