She Dances She walked out of the bedroom then, through kitchen, down the hall Her eyes not seeing crayon marks that spoke off of the wall She rode the lift down to the ground and through the lobby went She walked, as she had walked before, and wished that he'd repent She wanderd farther, past the store, and through the concrete park Where houses weren't so thick and high she heard the dogs all bark Through trees and valleys filled with grass she danced a happy lick She dances through eternity in space of one clock tick The clock ticks on the countdown to the morning's shrill alarm She dances through eternity, the needle in her arm He slept beside her, didn't know this joy he drove her to She danced beside him all the night, he never even knew Then when the morning rang him in he saw there's no more chance So pulled the rig and filled it up, he joined her in the dance

The Gardener Comes Sometimes the way of roses is to grow in some strange spot A rocky, thorny, back row fence, a factory's garbage plot There fools may come and pick the bud and open it too soon Still the roots grow strong below, despite the early prune The petals scattered to the wind are gone like days gone by The wound will heal, stem will scar, the sap will cease to cry Next year the rose will bloom again, the flower perfect grow There in the waste and for a time be bright, though none will know Then one day comes the gardener and sees the thorny stems He marvels at the heartiness, "These roots, they must be gems." Transplanted to a fertile place the pruning careful done The plant is nurtured, watered, fed, put in the proper sun That rose that seemed all thorns and stems to new life gives a rise 'Til at the show it takes in every heart and wins the prize

'Til Your Da Comes Home Just canny in the chimney nook my bonnie little boy To stay up in the gloaming mist has always been your joy Now mommy goes to meet your da, he must be homeward soon They'd not wage onward battle through the rising of the moon This night will I endorse you sitting in the chimney's mold The torch light flick'ring off your hair of copper, spun with gold So hopeful into battle afternoon's new soldiers strode I'll go now, take a flagon, meet the victors on the road The fire's cold, the torch is out, I had a horrid dream I visioned down the track I heard scream after bloody scream A scream of terror, scream of pain, screams sounding like my mum I sit here dozing and awaiting her and da to come I'll canny, cuddle down a little more here all alone Although the fire's ashes there is warmth left in the stone For mum has give me orders and from here I shall not roam I'll wait here by the hearthside until her and Da get home

When The Waiting's Over Dear, when the waiting's over then the crying will begin As pain and bits of lonliness come welling from within Then after come the healing days, the mind learns to forget The losing of the painfulness is nothing to regret Rejoice in happy memories that play and play again Toss out the sad ones one by one 'til only good remain Each time you think of me with joy I'll once again be near I never wished to bring you any other thing but cheer So when the waiting's over dear, the crying and the pain The healing brings us happiness, and we will smile again

Damn Love Look at you stand So innocently Girl don't you know What you're doing to me Fit me so tight A hand in a glove Damn you Damn love Look at you tremble Fear in your eye God how it hurts Making you cry I guess it's my fault When push comes to shove Damn me Damn love Damn love I've known it before Damn love I've tried 'til I'm sore Ice heart Melting again Damn love Damn it again So here we stand Right at the door Giving again When I thought there's no more Something that died Is living again Damn love Giver of pain

Daughter of the Ocean Fickle lover from the ocean Offspring of a goddess fair Water sprite of great devotion Mystic maid of greenish hair Sound of waves inside your laughter Giggle, belch of ocean air Sporadic, the kisses coming From my pretty maid de mer Stay with here now forever Love with me without a care Promise that you'll leave me never Oh my sweet, sweet mermaid fair

Kids Kids, what do we do about kids Put 'em in barrels, bang on the lids Those kids Wheelers and dealers will never comply Fickle and forceful they cheat and they lie Those kids Spend 'til you're down on the skids Act like you starve them, those kids They're so insidious, this is the rub Just when they've worn you right down to a nub Looking so solemn and swearing it's true They're smilin', sayin', "You know I love you." Those kids What do we do about kids Talkin' to you about-kids

May I? May I take your pain? Just lay it right there Right there on the pad, just lay your soul bare Each time that you share it you cut it by half Just two or three times and you're able to laugh Know there's nothing new on the face of the Earth Money and love lives and problems of birth These aren't new trials, I've seen them before You'll leave them behind when you walk out the door These questions and worries that make you insane Are soon cut to nothing, may I take your pain?
