Reflections of the Way It Really Is
Stax album recorded on the Enterprise label
Recorded in 1972 - 73 and released late in '73, this album took 1 year and 6 weeks to record from all orginal material, with almost all of the music and vocals done by Louis.  The state of the art MCI 24 track recording machine in Sam Phillips Studio made it possible for Louis to record each instrument or voice one track at a time and then blend them all together for a unique sound.  The only  part Louis didn't get to do was the mixing, which was done by Jerry Phillips, his record producer.  Louis was never happy with the mix on the album.  It would have been quite different had he mixed them himself.
Album Cover
One dissappointing thing about the album was that it did not contain one picture of Louis with out either clown makeup or distortion.  Because Stax was known for it's Black artist and Louis voice has that soulful quality associated with the Black sound, Al Bell didn't want people to know Louis' race until the album caught on.
