| The
following is a mural created for Eastern Delaware Nations. The pictures
were down loaded on a older computer so please excuse the quality. At the
bottom of the page explains how you may obtain a print of all six panels.

|
| This
panel was designed by a twelve year old girl, who got the children involved
in the painting, We call this panel "The Creator's Dream". It features
the legendary Dream Catcher as well as the hand prints of all the children
who participated in the painting of this panel. Each dream catcher features
one of the four colors of the Native Americans. A child holds the Earth
Mother in a sacred way, with arms out stretched, this shows how the earth
belongs not to us, but to our children, our future. Surrounding the children
are butterflies, the symbol of beauty, hopes and dreams. The hummingbird,
the totem of joy, brings its blessing of happiness to the world. The revered
eagle, the messenger of prayer, flies off to the east carrying the prayers
of the world to the creator. |
|
| Panel
two and three are the story of the creation. The second panel shows the
creation of the first woman who came from the top of the tree of life.
Notice the heart shaped leaves of the branches and the mark of duality
across the trunk of the tree, the essence of the masculine on the right
in the harmonious balance. The turtle holds the earth upon his back, hence
the name for this continent, "Turtle Island". A multitude of plant and
animal life continually springs from the fertile mother. A messenger of
the thunderbirds, the red tail hawk, holds out its wings in a sacred way,
ready to receive and deliver blessings of the creator. Watching over the
scene are representatives of the turtle, turkey, and wolf clans. |
| Panel
three shows the continuation of the first man, who came from the Tree of
Life. He is surrounded the plant nations, the four legged and other two
legged who shared the blessings of the Mother Earth with us. |
| The
fourth panel is called "The Earth Mother". This shows where we come from
and the gifts the Mother gives to sustain life, such as the nourishing sacred
corn and all essential water (the blood of the Earth Mother). The elements
of earth, air, water and fire are in balance with the colors of the four
directions and their perspective teaching of illumination, healing, introspection
and wisdom. |
| We
are all children of the Earth, the red race, the yellow race, the black race
and the white race. It is when we begin to separate ourselves by color
the problems arise, for this is unbalanced. We are all Children of the Earth
Mother. |
| This
panel is called the "Feast and Celebration". In this the people dance to
give thanks to the Earth Mother for all she lovingly provides. We see the
beauty of the corn, beans and squash. These are the three sacred plants
given to us by the creator and provided by the Earth Mother, carried high
is a staff medicine Wheel which represents the Great Hoop of Life, made
easier by the help of the Four Directions which intersect it. The people
also give thanks for the learning tool. |
| The
sixth panel is called "The spirit of the Elders". It shows the Elders teaching
the children all aspects of life. The Spirit of the ancestors can be seen
behind the child. The hand prints of the elders and children continue on
the first panel, so when the panels are arranged in the Circle of Life it
shows the unity and continuity of life and the teachings. This is called
the circle of life. |
| There
is a beautiful print of all six panels available for $30.00 (this includes
