Sam Emerson Stillings Graduates

Topeka, KS - (May 2003)

Sam Emerson Stillings, son of Dave and Cindy Rankin Stillings of Topeka, Kansas will graduate on May 17, 2003, 7:30 o'clock p.m., at the Kansas Expocenter, London House in Topeka.

Sam is the grandson of the late Charles and Gladys Minor Rankin.

Hope Elizabeth Griffin Graduates

Lebanon, OH - (May 2003)

Hope Elizabeth Griffin, daughter of Jonnye Rankin and Danny Griffin of Lebanon, Ohio, granduated from Lebanon High School on Saturday, May 24 at 7:00 o'clock p.m. at the Princeton Pike Church of God, 901 Millikin Road in Hamilton, Ohio.

Hope is the granddaughter of Dan and Gertrude Mercer Rankin of Oswego, KS, formerly of Pelican, LA.

Jeannette Rankin Byers moves to Paris

Paris, TX - Jeannette Rankin Byers, the matriarch of the remaining midsouth Rankin clan, recently moved to Paris to be near her daughter and son-in-law. Mary Beth and Alan Teschner have lived in Paris for several years.

Jeannette has made good progress since her sickness that required hospital and rehab services in the latter part of 2002 and early 2003. We continue to wish her well as she continues to gain strength and resume her activity.

Rankin Descendants Receive Awards

Topeka, KSand Chesapeake, VA - Our two presentations are similar. Both received the Eagle Scout award: Chad Hoye of Chesapeake, VA, and Sam Stillings of Topeka, KS.

Chad is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Rankin of Chesapeake.

Sam is the son of Cindy Rankin and Dave Stillings of Topeka.

Steven and Cindy are cousins. Cindy's parents were the late Charles H. and Gladys Rankin. Steven is the son of Dan and Gertrude Rankin of Oswego, KS.

Pelican, LA (September 1, 2002) - Dan and Gertude Rankin have moved to Oswego, Kansas. They are now settled into their new home near Beverly and Walter Keener and family.

After just 21 years at the Pelican homestead property and the "small motel" built there in 1981, the sound here around DeSoto Parish is a "huge vacuum noise" with the space left after their leaving.

They'll be missed in this part of the world and our loss is Kansas' gain.

The picture on the left was taken in 1981 shortlty after the construction of the new house had begun.
