or Return to ENTRY PAGE This site is a member of   It was February 6, 1946and it was Mama's birthday. It was just another ordinary day at the place we had moved to just after Christmas 1945. It was where Ben and Lela Johniken Welborn had lived in a community called Scratch.Mama got up that morning and seemed rather spirited. She called out to Pop, "Frank, I'm fifty today, I'm a half a century old." I don't recall her having a birthday party that day, or, even a cake. But I want to remember her now as I think of that day in 1946.  And here it is: Happy Birthday Mama! you are now 112 years old! |
