THE PRESENT
The Mission has operated as a Christian ministry since it's beginning. In our seventeen years of service. we have provided more than 440,660 meals and 7,700 nights of shelter to the homeless and poor within our community.

Our Mission is governed by a 14 member Board of Directors ( all volunteers) who have a commitment to seeing that the needs of the homeless, hungry, and addicted are met with the Love of Christ Jesus.  Programs  available to our guests are Christ-centered in nature.
These Programs include:

  • Parenting Classes
  • 21 Day Bible Program
  • Discipleship Program
  • Alcohol and Drug Recovery Program
  • Feeding Program
  • Shelter Program
  • Clothing Program
  • Counseling Program
  • Other Programs may be added as needed
In 1998, we have observed the face of our community changing. Our city is growing at a rapid pace, and Hendersonville Rescue Mission must be prepared to meet the increasing needs of the hungry, homeless, and addicted. The government has cut many programs, and we now have
" welfare reform". This has put an additional burden upon those working in the area of Rescue - we have the additional challenge of assisting people who do not qualify for other aid, but cannot yet meet the needs of their family.
Hendersonvulle Rescue Mission current building has 5400 sq. ft.-- far too small to meet all of our current needs and woefully inadequate to meet future needs. For example the men's dorm is 525 sq. ft. which by code would allow housing of 9 men. We have 16 beds in this dorm. Each person by code must have 60 sq. ft. of space.

We are forced to turn away people seeking our help. In 1998 our Board of Directors approved an expansion program which included the purchase of new land next to the current site for a larger building. Ground breaking will be in the Fall of 1999. It's wonderful how God works. We work in a building across from where people received help in the very beginning of this ministry. Now He has provided a building lot adjacent to our current building.

We hope you will "  Share the  Vision  " of what Hendersonville Rescue Mission is doing in the community
