What Hendersonville Rescue Mission Does For The Community. Every weekday from 6:30 - 9:30 A.M., staff members work with the men, trying to help them find day labor. While the men wait for jobs in the morning they are given free coffee and doughnuts. The "Alcoholics Victorious" program is a 12-step, Bible-based recovery program for all addicts. Individuals learn to be responsible and accountable according to scripture. They learn to deal with their addictions through Christ-centered counseling. Men and Women who come to the Mission are encouraged to take part in the 21-day Program, a course of Bible study that helps them begin to see their lives from a new perspective. After completing the 21 day Program, men are encouraged to begin the Discipleship Program. During this time, they are placed in a separate living area with others who are in the program. They must get a job, open a bank account to save their money, and show a responsible attitude in all that they do. Parenting Classes are available for the women. Christian encouragement is given to those who may find themselves in the role of a single parent for the first time. The classes also teach the women how to care for the children, and covers subjects such as school and discipline. In addition to the meals and lodging provided last year, The Hendersonville
Rescue Mission staff also provided 1,990 hours of counseling. There were
77 individuals that made decisions for Christ while turning their lives
around. Also, over 125 volunteers donated 3,186 hours of service.
