Cranberry Marsh Bass Club Tournament Rules

  1. A normal bas tournament will be held on Sunday.
  2. Entry fee for all tournaments will be $20 per entry.
  3. All contestants must check in with the tournament committee the day of the tournament.
  4. Starting & quitting times will be set per tournament.
  5. Contestants are permitted to fish by themselves or with another member.
  6. All contestants must start from & return to the starting point by boat each day.
  7. No contestant shall be allowed to fish other than from a boat.
  8. Only artificial bait may be used with the exception of pork rind. No live or prepared bait may be used.
  9. No contestant may fish within 50 yards of an anchored boat that has the trolling motor in the up position. This distance will be determined by the first boat to start fishing in the area. If another contestant violates this distance a verbal warning may be given by the first contestant. If this warning is not respected the contestant is in violation of this rule. Where overtaking or pulling in front of another contestant sportsman like conduct would deem at least 50 yards appropriate.
  10. Only largemouth, smallmouth & spotted bass 12" or longer will be accepted. Any bass under 12" that is declared by a contestant as an entry (i.e. handed to the weighmaster) will be disqualified & one pound will be deducted from the contestants weight for that tournament.
  11. Scoring shall be as follows:
  1. Individual Tournaments - total weight
  2. Yearly Standings - points
    1. 10 points for fishing
    2. 20 points for 1st Place????1 point for 20th Place
    3. 10 point bonus for prepayment of all 8 tournaments
    4. 5 point bonus to those not prepaying but physically fish all 8 tournaments
  1. Weigh in time will be 20 minutes after quitting time of each tournament day.
  2. Each contestant must present his own fish for weigh in or be given to a tournament official for weigh in.
  3. A penalty of 1 ounce per minute will be assessed for each minute a contestant is late at quitting time. If a contestant is 5 minutes late or later then their entire catch will be disqualified.
  4. All bass will become property of the tournament committee and shall be returned to the water. A lunker of 5 pounds or more may be kept by the contestant.
  5. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the boats during a tournament. No one under the influence will be allowed to fish the tournament. Anyone violating this rule will be disqualified from future tournaments.
  6. Anyone found guilty of cheating will be subject to expulsion from the club. The same goes for flagrant unsportsman like conduct.
  7. If a contestant is disqualified for a violation then their entry is forfeited.
  8. Junior members are bound by all rules except rule 2.
  9. Any contestant who has a complaint against another contestant must submit their complaint in writing to the tournament committee within 30 minutes of quitting time for that tournament. The complaint must be signed by 2 contestants for a ruling. Complaint forms are available from the secretary.
  10. A lifetime member fishing any tournament must pay the tournament fee.
  11. If a contestant wins a tournament but does not qualify by points for the tournament of champions & has either prepaid their tournament fees or has physically fished all 8 qualifiers then they will receive an automatic berth in the tournament of champions.
  12. The highest non-qualifying contestant in the last tournament of the year shall receive an automatic berth in the tournament of champions provided they either prepaid or have physically fished all 8 qualifiers.
  13. Ties will be broken in the order of the following:
  1. Most fish
  2. Largest fish
  3. Tied with largest & most fish - split points & money
  1. No one may pass another contestant in a designated "no wake" zone. Contestants may not enter a designated "no boat" zone. If a contestant receives a ticket for a lake violation or if 2 other contestants turn someone in for any of the above violations then that contestant will be disqualified from that tournament.
  2. Each contestant is required to wear a coast guard approved PFD if their boat is being operated above idle in an open speed zone.
  3. A penalty of 4 ounces per dead fish will be assessed on all fish turned in for weighing.
  4. The limit of fish per contestant is 5 per tournament or day. No more than 5 fish per contestant is permitted in your livewell at one time. You must cull fish after a limit is secured.
  5. The above rules shall apply to all normal tournaments except the tournament of champions, which shall have its own set of rules. Special rules may be added to cover any certain tournament circumstances to be applied at that tournament only.
  6. All rules will be strictly enforced & the tournament committee will rule on any disputes or rule violations. The ruling of the tournament committee may be appealed at the first regular meeting of the club following the tournament. At that time the club may uphold or overrule any judgements of the tournament committee by voting rule of the clubs bylaws.
