Welcome to my personal climbing site! I'm based on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada in case you're wondering...I began my illustrious climbing career in 1996 here on Salt Spring at our very own indoor climbing facility, The Wall. About three weeks after my first trip up the Wall I was invited on a trip to Squamish to do some real climbing and since that trip I've been completely hooked on traditional rock climbing. I definitely prefer the challenge of on-sight, traditional leads where gear placement is an integral part of the climbing experience but I have also been known to jump on the occasional sport route! I began leading in February 1997 with Pixie Corner, a 5.8 crack in Squamish; my most difficult leads to date are: 5.10d on gear and 5.11b on bolts (Hobbit Roof in Joshua Tree and an un-named route in Nanaimo). My favourite climbs can be found on the Favourites page...my favourite areas? Squamish, for sure and Joshua Tree as a runner-up. Yosemite was incredibly inspiring but too commercialized which tended to detract from its splendor. Salt Spring's Bayne's Peak Project (My Best Friend's Girlfriend) has provided me with some of my most enjoyable and memorable climbing experiences so far and as we develop climbing on Salt Spring it becomes a more and more appealing place to climb...have fun looking over the 300+ pictures on this site & if you feel like it, drop by my other (business) site Flat Earth Photography.
