Landing Gear
I have purchased the Grove main landing gear and brake assemblies.  My KR2S will be a tail-dragger.
It's humid here in Maryland and it did not take long for the landing gear brackets to have surface rust form on them.  Should have primed them as soon as I got them!
So I spent an  hour removing rust!
Landing gear brackets without rust & primed!

Since I am building the "new wing" AS5048, these brackets will not have enough height between spar caps.  If I had realized this, I would have added wood blocks between spar caps before enclosing the main spar or told Grove so they would not have built the standard KR2 brackets but the bigger ones that I needed.  The only other option was to weld a plate to the back of these brackets through which I could drill holes for bolts to attach the brackets to the main spar (see photo below).
An 'exploded' view of the main gear tires and rim assembly.  In the process of assemblying the wheel, it was easy to pinch the tube and that is what I did on one of them....big time flat immediately.  These are the Lamb 11.400x5 tires.  Ordered from Aircraft Spruce.
Completed assembly.  It was not easy to get the tires on the rim.  Used a lot of air pressure to "pop" them on the rim.
I used CAD drawings to locate holes precisely for drilling holes in the brackets (5/16 D)
