Puerto Escondido has a wide variety of beaches to enjoy. Near the condo are several small coves ideal for swimming and snorkeling. All the beaches have small palapa restaurants. They provide various drinks, and a light lunch of fish or seafood.

Playa Manzanillo (at right and above) is the beach nearest the condo, and is a five minute walk down the road. In the picture above you can see Puerto Angelito in the background. You can hire a boat and skipper here to go deep-sea fishing, whale or dolphin watching. You may even see some giant turtles too).

At left is Carizalillo beach. It is just beyond Puerto Angelito.

Playa Principal is the main beach in town. Perez Gasga Avenue is adjacent to this beach and is turned into a pedestrian mall every evening. There are lots of restaurants and shops on Perez Gasga and Playa Principal. Each morning the fishing boats come in with their catch from which you can buy.

Playa Zicatella (above and below) is one of the world's top surfing beaches. There are serveral surf shops in town, and most have qualified teachers. Zicatella is about 3 miles long and ideal for walking. After your early morning walk make sure to drop in on Cafecito for what must be the best breakfast for the most reasonable price in Mexico .

The Mercado at 3a Poniente and 8a Norte (just up the street from our condo) has an abundance in fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, fish & seafood and

general merchandise. The Ahorara (supermarket) is also nearby, as are various bakeries and specialty stores.
