Daytripping: There are many activities you can participate in or just enjoy on your own. here are a few samples of what we enjoyed while in Puerto

Our favourite Deep Sea fishing guide is Omar. He's the fellow on the left in the picture. You can find Omar at his parents' restaurant on Puerto Angelito beach, when he is not out fishing. Puerto Angelito beach is just a 5 minute walk from the condo. Just walk over and ask any of the locals for Omar. We've found Omar really good at finding the fish. On this outing with him we caught three Mahi Mahi. Bob, one of our neighbors at Eglantina, had caught 20 tuna just two days earlier. Make sure you book Omar for the early morning, later in the day it gets too hot to be out on the water, and the fish just don't bite as good either. After we caught our Mahi Mahi, Omar took us on some dolphin watching. In justle a little time we found ourselves in the middle of a school of at least a hundred dolphins. What an amazing experience. He also was able to find us some turtles floating lazily in the ocean. Omar will filet the fish you caught so you can take it home. Don't forget to bring a bag. Just fry the fish in some oil and garlic (ago in Spanish). Delicious! It is customary to give some of the fish you caught to Omar for his mother's restaurant

Chacahua Lagoon
This magical lagoon is located within the ecological reserve of the Mexican National Park of Chacahua. The Lagunas de Chacagua is located 41 miles (about 60km) west of Puerto. It is 55 square miles with 20 miles of open-ocean shoreline and jungle lagoons. On your tour around the many islands of the mangrove you will encounter numerous species of fish and wildlife. At Chacagua village hatchery crocodiles are being restored to the area. Bird life includes cormorants, pelicans and herons. There are many islands suitable for wildlife viewing. Your guide will be happy to drop you off and pick you up later. Snorkeling at Playa Hermosa is a real treat. Tours may be arranged right in Puerto (your guide will pick you up from the condo) or at Zapotalito, which is the nearest access point to the Lagunas.

The beautiful fresh water lagoon of Manialtepec is just 10 miles west of Puerto. It is deeper and fresher than Chacahua. A boat will take you through the mangrove encircled lagoon to where the fresh water meets the open ocean. The lagoon is a photographer's paradise. Over 100 species of birds, many are migratory birds, inhabit the area. You'll encounter anhingas, various herons, cormorants, ibis, egrets, jacanas, parrots and ducks

City of Oaxaca
Especially worth while is a trip to the City of Oaxaca, the inland capital of the State of Oaxaca. Oaxaca is a historical and colonial city. The famous ruins of Monte Alban are nearby. A local guide will be able to explain the historical significance of Monte Alban. Also worthwhile is the Oaxaca city centre, and the Church of Santo Domingo. This church houses the Museum of Anthropology and History of the region. At Santa Maria El Tule you can view the oldest and tallest tree in the world. Nearby is a Mezcal distillery where you can learn about the process involved in the making of this famous Oaxacan drink. At Mitla you will find the ruins of the Mixteca culture. In Mitla is a famous Artists Market.
The historic centre of Oaxaca and Monte Alban are World Heritage Sites.
