THROAT AND TONSIL PROBLEMS
Aconite
Sudden attack of tonsillitis of severe burning pain in the throat from exposure to dry, cold air. Restlessness, violent cough. Fear, face, dry and red. Great thirst.
Apis
Burning, stinging pain in the throat, with fever. Worse at 3 am. Throat/ tonsils look puffy and cause suffocation. No thirst and desire for cold drinks.
Baryta carb
Tonsils inflame, swell repeatedly, on every exposure to cold. Swollen tonsils, plug like feeling in throat. Especially indicated in cases of mental and physical weakness.
Belladonna
Sudden violent attack causing severe, throbbing pain in the throat and fever. Worse at 3 am ; mouth and tongue are dry and hot yet there is no thirst. Patient wants to be in a warm room and covered with warm clothes (especially neck)
Hepar sulph
Painful, yellow tonsils with pus. Splinter like sensation in the throat. Better from gargling in hot water. Foul smell from the mouth. Very chilly (requires to be covered in warm clothes sometimes even in summer). Highly oversensitive.
Lachesis
Sever left-sided tonsillitis. Pain, fever and hot perspiration esp. at night. All problems worse at sleep. Pain radiates to left ear and is worse swallowing liquids. Worse by hot gargling but better by cold drinks. Blue-purple appearance of throat. Can't bear tight clothes around neck.
Merc
Right-side tonsils inflamed. Severe throat pain worse at night. Constant desire to swallow saliva. Intense thirst for cold water. Gargling with hot water gives no relief. Great perspiration.
Phytolacca
Right-sided tonsillitis with electric shock-like flying pains and burning in the throat. Pain shoots into the right ear while swallowing, is better by taking cold drinks.
Lac caninum
Severe pain ; highly difficult to swallow anything. Pain keeps shifting from one side to another. Feverish with pains in limbs. Sometimes patches on tonsils / throats.
