Sing Unto the Lord A New Song, For He Has Done
Marvelous Things.   His Right Hand And His Holy
Arm Have Gotten Us the Victory.

What is worship?  Worship is paying homage to God.  Worship is
a powerful tool.  Through Worship many strongholds can be brought down.

If we study the children of Israel, we will see that many times God sent the musicians and singers before the army when they went in to battle.  In one instance when they sent the singers first, the enemies turned on themselves, allowing Israel to win the battle.

In 2 Chronicles 20 we read the account of the Moabites, Ammonites and coming against Israel.  God gave Jahaziel the following words...."Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not your's but God's.  You will not have to fight this battle.  Take up your positions, stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you."  (2 Chronicles 20;15-17)

So, in the morning Jehosaphat appointed men to sing and praise God for the splendor of His holiness.  As they sang and praised God, He set and ambush against the armies and they were defeated.

When we worship God, our worship should contain three elements; thanksgiving, praise and worship.

1. In 1 These. 5:18 we are instructed to give thanks in all things.
Eph. 5:19-20 instructs us to give thanks always, for all things.  It is not always easy to give thanks in all things.

2. Praising God is similar to that of praising our favorite sports team or TV or movie stars.  We should be excited about GOD and all He does for us.

3.  Worship is moving into a deeper place,  a place of showing reverence, adoration, homage to God.   Our God is an awesome God.  He does wondrous things.

Scriptures tell us that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.  One way to draw near to Him is through praise and worship. Praise and worship opens up an avenue to us to draw near to God in order to have fellowship with Him.

When we worship God our focus will be taken off our circumstances and will be centered on God.  We will soon very likely forget our circumstances and those things that are troubling us.  We will be lifted to a higher place, above those things that tend to draw us down.

Bless the Lord of my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name.
