The City of Berkeley keeps a list of "oppressive nations" with which it does not do business. That means none of its contractors or suppliers can make or buy products in those countries, and it cannot have its money in banks which make loans to those countries. Currently the list includes Tibet, Nigeria, Indonesia and Burma. We are working with the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Jews for Divestment, Global Exchange, Students for Justice in Palestine, and many other groups to get Israel added to the oppressive nations list. Get the divestment petition.
