       Basic Information for Dulcimer Players
WHO WE ARE:
The Guadalupe Riverpickers Dulcimer Club was organized by Marian and Jim Hull in June, 1999.  A non profit organization, our members are non professional musicians of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Our mission is to provide a Comal County, Texas venue for the promotion and preservation of acoustic music as played on the Mountain Dulcimer, Hammered Dulcimer, and other acoustic accompanying instruments.

Our goal is to have fun while we are playing for our own enjoyment, or for the enjoyment of others; and to enhance this experience with frequently scheduled workshops and guest artist concerts by nationally recognized dulcimer musicians.

OUR MUSIC
We have developed a repertoire of tunes, which we practice at our meetings, based on a structured tune book approach that will simplify the learning curve for all. Our tune book is available (by request) for our players to purchase at a nominal price to cover our costs. See the paragraph on  CREDITS below for more details and to learn how you can order CD's to practice with.

Credits:  We are thankful to our good friend, Margaret Wright, of the Houston, Texas - North Harris County Dulcimer Society and the East Texas Dulcimer Club of Crockett, Texas, for her efforts in creating the series of '12 Tune Books' of dulcimer tabliture that we use as our basic source of music. Click HERE to visit Margaret's tabliture page and to order a CD for your '12 Tune' book. Margaret Wright teaches Beginner and Intermediate players. She has taught workshops at The Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, AR; at the Glen Rose, TX rally and numerous other dulcimer festivals; and a workshop for players at our home in Spring Branch. Some of the CD tunes are played by Margaret's son, Lloyd Wright, the 2000 National Dulcimer Champion, so you can play along and practice with the CD and get a lesson too!
