Push Hands & Philosophy Workout
and anything else you'd like to work on.
Two person forms, solo forms, bag work, mat work, meditation, rolls, pastries, muffins, babka, I digress. (sorry.)  Point is, you can spend the time here with an instructor/coach and use the facility and get partners to play with.  Expand your personal practice time!

starting 4/1/03

Thursday:
    6-6:30pm
        Philosophy discussion
                FREE

    6:30- 7:30pm
Push Hands Workout  (or whatever you wanna work on)
            $10 drop in fee
            $35 monthly
$25 monthly   (if enrolled in other classes)

(This is more a workout than a class.)
Push Hands, Sticky Hands, Sensing Hands

2-person:
exercises, forms,  drill and  skills will be explored.

Learn skill sets, and philosophical underpinnings, and overpinnings for that matter.

Known as Tui Shou in China (and, interestingly Push Hands in Britain) this two person exercise develops sensitivity, energy exchange, dialogue, and martial bemusements in its adherents (get it?  Adherents.  Like sticky hands.  I kill myself!)

Stephe will teach and he actually knows what he is speaking about.

We might do sticky swords.  Defenses.  Openings.  Tournament rules.  Taiwan rules.
Any one.  Any level.  Any style.  Any school.

Press Release                      – For Immediate Release

Silent Dragon Schools

April 10, 2003

Tai Chi: Is it for Me?

Silent Dragon will be offering the public two free Tai Chi workshops/seminars this May.  These will be free hour-long seminars beginning each Wednesday evening from 6-7pm on both May 7th & 14th.  The instructor will be Stephen Watson.  A new class will form the following week on the 21st of May.  Each workshop will be the same content so it will not be necessary to attend more than one.  Both new and experienced martial artists are invited to attend.

Kung Fu: I’ve seen the movies, but is there more?

We will also be offering two free Kung Fu workshops on May 10th & 15th.  The first will be Saturday from 11:30 to 1 p.m. and the second will be a Thursday night from 7:30 to 9 p.m.  The instructor will be Stephen Watson.  The workshops are one and a half hours long.  Both new and experienced martial artists are invited to attend.  Regular classes will be offered four times a week following the workshops.

Aikido: Can something so fluid work for me?  I’m clumsy.

Silent Dragon will be offering two free Aikido workshops on April 22nd and May 6th.  These will be free hour-long seminars on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm. Regular classes begin on May 13th.

We’d also like to announce regular Open Workouts & Philosophy for the Connecticut martial arts community.  Our first class will be Thursday, April 24th.  At 6pm each week we begin with a philosophical discussion which is FREE to attend and from 6:30 - 7:30 pm we run the workout.  Martial artists from around the region will have an opportunity to try their skills out against many different styles in a non-competitive atmosphere.  Many different martial modalities will be practiced: Sparring, Randoori, Push/Sticky/Sensing Hands, Wrestling etc...  Any one.  Any level.  Any style.  Any school.  People considering what martial art to begin studying can find many styles represented under one roof without sales pitches!  Current students/teachers from any school are welcome.  For Fun and fun only!

All of the events will take place at 83 School Ground Rd. in Branford.  Directions will be available to anyone who calls 203 488 8558.  People should call to reserve their space, due to limited capacity.  I am.

Yours in Peace,

            Stephen Watson
