More Information on the Thimble Pleasures Quilt Guild and Show

We are a quilting guild of 75 members who meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month in Mendon. The President of the Guild is Coral Barry of Douglas. The guild was established in 1992 with 7 initial members who met on a snowy night in January. We have monthly workshops with guest speakers and donate quilts to charities and people in need. We recently embarked on a yearlong community service project whereby guild members taught children, adults and members of a local senior center how to quilt. The quilts were made from a well-known children's book The Quiltmaker's Gift by Jeff Brumbeau and Gail de Marcken. Approximately 20 bed-size quilts were made, all with matching miniature quilts that will tour local libraries. The quilts will all be donated to charity after the quilt show. At Christmastime, members make quilted place mats for senior citizens. A local Senior Center was chosen to receive the quilted placemats. Every year, the town will be picked at random, with over 20 towns being represented by guild members. We present a quilt show with works by our members every other year.
