General Notes About AMR The "Area" indicates precisely that. Any unit can be sent to any other area for any reason. Units frequently respond into towns in the vicinity of their locality for private emergency calls and nursing home emergencies. An example of this would be a Taunton unit responding to a call at the Life Care Center of Raynham or a Brockton unit responding to the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. Every Ambulance is equipped with a new Motorola MCS 2000 VHF radio programed for every tower in the fleet. When a truck moves into another area, it will frequently change to that area's dispatch frequency. It is common to hear a dispatcher say, "Victor 24, come up on the _____ tower." All BLS Unit designations are the letter for that area, followed by a number. Ex: Delta 26 All ALS designations are either Medic followed by a number, or Town and then Rescue or Town call sign Ex: Medic 56; Marshfield Rescue; Newton P-1 Most any local Fire Dept. who operates in VHF is also programmed into the radio for Mutual Aid purposes. Every radio has a "Common Wide / MCI" channel: 159.9150 (simplex) (67.0) From Myottes Scanner frequencies Northeastern states PLUS http://www.Seacoast.com/~bobcas/
