Mata Nui The island where everything takes place in the BIONICLE story line is Mata Nui, named after the spirit that cares for it. Mata Nui is Matoran for "blue eyes". Everything in Mata Nui was peaceful and beautiful until one day. Mata Nui's evil brother, Makuta, cast a spell over Mata Nui and Mata Nui fell into a deep slumber. Makuta then threw a blanket of darkness over the island and all the wildlife in it was transformed into Rahi, the minions of Makuta. The only people that were safe were the Matoran, the population of Mata Nui. They found out if you removed a Rahi from its Infected Mask, it would return to its original state. However, the Rahi quickly overtook the Matoran and enslaved them, all seemed lost. The Toa When all seemed lost, 7 capsules fell from the sky and crashed into Ta-Wahi, a beach not far from a village, 6 opened to reveal parts and bits of strange animals, the 7th opened, and was found to be empty. The remaining six magically reassembelled themselves, to become the Toa, the Protectors of Mata Nui, each with its own special elemental power. Tahu, the leader, had the power of fire. Gali, the only female member, had the power of water. Lewa had the power of wind. Pohatu had the power of stone, Onua had the power of earth, and Kopaka had the power of stone. Each one protected one of the six villages in Mata Nui from the Rahi. They vowed to stop Makuta. The Kanohi Masks of Power However, to defeat the Rahi, each needed to collect 6 Kanohi masks of power. each already had one, but when the six corresponding masks were joined, they formed one Golden Kanohi. So the six Toa set out to find the Kanohi masksand to receive their powers. They searched over a period of 40 days and 40 nights, but finally found them. The Toa were ready. Makuta & The Toa Kaita The six Toa had to go underground to find Makuta, and when they did, an epic battle ensued. When Makuta started to overpower the Toa, a strange thing happened, Tahu, Pohatu, and Onua and Gali, Lewa and Kopaka combined their bodies and powers to form two very powerful Toa Kaita. With their new form, they destroyed Makuta and the Rahi's Infected Masks were deactivated. The Toa Kaita dissassembeled back into the Toa, and the triumphant heroes of Mata Nui returned aboveground. The Bohrok Swarms However, as you may know, things do not stay still for very long. When the Toa returned aboveground, they found strange THINGS attacking their villages. When the Toa defeated those, they consulted Turaga Vakama, the leader of Tahu's Village, Ta-Koro. He said that the Sacred Fire said that these things were from inside Mata Nui and their mission was to restore Mata Nui to the Beforetime, the time of disorder and chaos. With their aids, the Bohrok Va, the Bohrok proceeded to destroy Mata Nui. The Toa could not defeat them all. The Boxor and The Krana In Onu-Koro, Onua's home village, a discovery was made. The Bohrok did not truly live. They were bio-mechanical creations, a servant of sorts. Remove the Krana that was stored in the monster's faceplate and the Bohrok would do whatever task you set it to do. With this discovery, an engineer created the first Boxor, weapons made from pieces of fallen Bohrok and fought against the Bohrok. The Matoran finally could aid the Toa. But the discovery raised the uneasy question: If the Bohrok were controlled by the Krana, is anything controlling the Krana? The Exo-Toa and The Bahrag The Toa finally collected 48 Krana, 1 from each species of  Krana. They went underground again and fitted the Krana into slots they found in a chamber. Suddenly, the ground began to shake and rumble, the tunnel from which they had come in caved in, and 6 doorways in front of them opened. Each Toa took a different doorway. Inside, frozen in a chamber of protodermis, was armor greater than any ever before made. The Toa found that they fitted perfectly into them, and they grew even more powerful. Then, the chambers collapsed and then they reaveled 2 monsters. They called themselves the Bahrag, Cahdok and Gahdok, the Queens of the Swarms. They had all the powers of the Bohrok inside them, plus more, they caused the two strongest members, Pohatu and Kopaka to fight shadows and the rest of them to fight their worst nightmares. Gali was the one who realized it, and she launched the first attack against the Bahrag. The Toa shed their armor, because it hindered their elemental powers. The Bahrag were imprisoned, and seven chutes filled with liquid protodermis opened. The Toa fell. The Toa Nuva When the protodermis touched the Toa's bodies, the Toa were destroyed and given new forms. With stronger Kanohi Nuva masks,the Toa became... The Toa Nuva! However, the new Toa Nuva fought each other too often and decided to seperate.When Kopaka Nuva got to his village, his Matoran friends presented him with a Nuva symbol, a symbol that appeared when the Bahrag were imprisoned. Kopaka Nuva thanked his people. When Tahu Nuva got to his village, however, he found his symbol being stolen by a strange creature that looked oddly like a Bohrok. Tahu Nuva realized that this couldn't be a Bohrok, however, because when the Bahrag were deafeated, all the Krana were deactivated and all the Bohrok were destroyed. When Tahu Nuva tried to attack t, his elemental powers failed him. Tahu Nuva was buried in a pile of stones. The Bohrok Kal Tahu Nuva dug himself out of the rubble and asked Turaga Vakama what it was. Turaga consulted the Sacred Fire. He said that the creature was a Bohrok Kal, one of six elite Bohrok whose sole purpose was to free the Bahrag were they ever imprisoned. When the six Toa Nuva met again, Onua Nuva mused that the Nuva symbols were connected to their powers. The Toa Nuva rebanded and vowed to return the Nuva symbols back into their slots before it was to late. The Power of Silver After many setbacks, the Toa Nuva returned underground to see a wonderous sight. The Exo-Toa , although empty, still opposed the Bohrok Kal. Their efforts weren't enough however, as the Exo-Toa were smashed into infinetesimal pieces. When all seemed lost however, Tahu Nuva released an energy that even the Turaga feared. The Mask of Time, worn by Tahu Nuva was the most powerful weapon ever. If Tahu Nuva failed, then reality would become undone. Tahu Nuva froze the Bohrok Kal long enough for them to ponder their problem. As they thought, however, something strange happened. The Bohrok Kal's Krana was turning into Silver, and the time field was breaking up. They had minutes if not seconds to solve it. The Toa Nuva had to gamble. All Our Powers Against Us Gali Nuva suggested that if the Nuva symbols were connected to their powers, that maybe if they fed the symbols with enough energy, the Bohrok Kal's own energy would destroy them. So the Toa Nuva concentrated with all their willpower and fed energy into the Nuva symbols. The strategy worked. The Bohrok Kal's own energy destroyed them. Nuhvok Kal's gravitational energies transformed him into a black hole, Lehvak Kal's vaccum blast sucked him out of existance, the magnetic powers of Tahnok Kal imprisoned him in an electrical prison, and pieces of the Exo Toa were attracted to Gahlok Kal by it's own magnetic powers. He was blown out of existance. Pahrak Kal's plasma energies turned him into lava and Kohrak Kal's sonic energies pulverized him. The Bohrok Kal were gone. Would you like to know more?
