What is a Star Party?  A star party is an all night astronomical observation activity which combines multiple opportunities to view various astronomical features with lectures and instruction for both the beginner and the more experienced observer.  Telescopes will be set up around Loftus Reservational Headquarters and in front of the dinning hall.  Dinner and Breakfast will be served to the campers.

Who may attend?  Any scout may attend, if accompanied by an adult.  While troops may attend as such, it is not anticipated that many troops will actually attend.  Siblings may attend provided that there is a family member of the same sex present.  Crews should include a leader of each sex represented among the members attending.  Due to the nature of the activity, it is not recommended that individuals younger than 10 years of age attend.

Where will you sleep?  Sleeping will occur, or may not.  In any event the attendees will be assigned to campsites.  The camp will not provide any tents or cots.  You need to bring your own tents and sleeping bags.  Since all meals are provided and for safety, cooking and fires in camp sites will be strongly discouraged.  It is anticipated that the camp showers will be available at designated times during the night.

What happens if it rains?  There will be areas for lectures set up in Loftus Reservational Headquarters and in a third of the Anderson Dining Hall.  Should it rain or be cloudy, science fiction and other videos will be shown in both locations.  However, if it should be cloudy, there will be lights out at 2:00 AM.
